German champions Bayern Munich have made an enquiry for in-form Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. This is according to the report from the stables of English media portalTEAMtalk. It was revealed that the Bavarian giants are one of several teams who have been told that Mitrovic is not for sale.

A recent report from Spanish media portal Fichajes also stated that Europa League champions Villarreal are keen on a move for Mitrovic and that they are hopeful that a €16m offer would be enough to tempt the Serbian international away from Fulham who are bidding to return to the Premier League next season after one season in the English Championship. The Cottagers were one of the three teams who were demoted from the English top flight last season alongside West Brom and Sheffield United. Fulham are on course to pick one of the two automatic spots available for Premier League promotion as they are the leading team in the Championship at the moment with a one-point lead over Bournemouth at the summit.

Villarreal want to sign Mitrovic in the winter transfer window next month. The Serbian has 21 goals in 19 Championship appearances this season to emerge as the leading goalscorer in the division. He has also provided five assists.

Apart from Bayern Munich and Villarreal, other European teams keen to sign Mitrovic include French champions Lille, Italian Serie A outfit Fiorentina, Italian giants Juventus and Spanish champions Atletico Madrid.

Poland international Robert Lewandowski is the undisputed central striker at Bayern Munich, though his long-term future at the club is far from sorted as he has less than two years to run on his contract. Mitrovic could be the perfect man to take his spot at the Allianz Arena if he were to leave the club amidst new transfer rumours linking him with Real Madrid.

Burnley attacking midfielder Maxwel Cornet has revealed his football idol in a chat with Football Daily. The Ivorian international admitted that Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is his idol and mentor. According to him, he watched Didier Drogba on TV while he was growing up in France. His family had left Ivory Coast for France at the time.

Cornet has been able to make a big impact at Burnley following his move to the club this summer. The Clarets were said to have paid £15m to secure his transfer from French Ligue 1 giants Lyon.

Ahead of the Premier League visit to Chelsea, Cornet had the chance to emulate his idol, Didier Drogba, by scoring at Stamford Bridge. Cornet has made a fantastic start to life at Turf Moor with four goals in his first five games before the Chelsea clash.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has used Cornet as a supporting striker for New Zealander Chris Woods in recent games and he retained the same role for the Chelsea game. In the end, the 23-cap Ivorian national team player could not emulate Didier Drogba by finding the back of the net at Stamford Bridge and he was also not able to continue his good scoring form.

Cornet didn’t score, but his Burnley side picked up an impressive 1-1 draw against hosts Chelsea thanks to the second half equaliser from Czech substitute Matej Vydra. The goal from Vydra cancelled out the first half strike from German Kai Havertz.

New Burnley signing Cornet now has four goals in six games for his new team after his inability to score. He would be hoping to return to scoring form when the Clarets take on in-form London team Crystal Palace at home when club football resumes later this month and on the back of the international break.
